The Session is held every Wednesday night at O'Regan's Pub,1224 Bishop Street, just south of Ste Catherines in Montreal. We typically start at 8-00pm and go on until 11-00pm.

This session is primarily for the player starting out and those who enjoy a more informal atmosphere. We welcome everyone, no matter what their level of expertise. While some of us have been playing for years, there are often people who have only been playing a few months. Don't worry about starting off a tune slowly or one that you might not be able to play all the way through. There is usually someone who will join in to help you out. Songs are also welcome

The session began in early 2003 as a way for students from the Siamsa School of Irish Music to get together and practice. The original four musicians who began the session and kept things running almost entirely by themselves for the first six months are Yolanta Kruk (whistle, voice and eggs), Janet Laskey (fiddle), Winnie Grady (whistle and flute) and Rae Shepp (bodhran, whistle and concertina).Over the last two years we have grown to the point where some nights there maybe 15 - 20 musicians.

Everyone takes part in the session, from claiming the bar space and arranging the chairs at the start, to introducing new comers and leading tune sets. The co-ordination of the session with the O'Regan's management and a large part of the driving philosophy of the O'Regan's session comes from Yolanta.

If you are looking for other sessions in the Montreal area you can find a list here.
